KINESIO TAPING

WHAT IS KINESIO TAPE?

Kinesio tape, also referred to as “K Tape,” is a technique that OTs use to treat pain and rehabilitate injury by placing strips of elastic tape on specific areas of the body. This tape works to both stabilize and support the muscles and joints without limiting the body’s range of motion.

HOW DOES KINESIO TAPE WORK?

The strips of Kinesio tape are placed on the body with an acute awareness of musculatory needs in a manner to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. Since the tape is left in place for several days, the constant pressure targets sensory receptors which in turn encourage lymphatic drainage, decrease inflammation and bring the body back into the correct postural alignment.

HOW CAN KINESIO TAPE BENEFIT ME?

K Tape helps aid in muscle recovery, prevents cramps or spasms, and limits overstretching or over-contraction of muscles. It is specifically beneficial for injuries such as sprained joints, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injury, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and lower back pain. The flexibility of the tape allows for an improvement of these areas without sacrificing movement.
